This page explains how to request the deletion of your Mechmate account and the data attached to it. It applies to the web application as well as the Android, Windows and macOS applications.

Delete your account from the app

If you still have access to your account, this is the fastest route.

Sign in to Mechmate
Open Settings, then Profile
Choose Delete account and confirm

The request is recorded immediately. Nothing else is required from you.

Request deletion without account access

If you can no longer sign in, because access was lost, the person in charge left the shop, or the business closed, write to privacy@mechmate.io.

Include the shop name and the email address associated with the account. We may ask for additional confirmation before processing the request. That is what prevents a third party from having data deleted that isn’t theirs.

Deleting specific data without closing your account

You do not have to delete your account to erase a specific piece of data. Everything can be done directly in Mechmate, whenever you decide.

A customer record, with contact details and addresses
A vehicle or piece of equipment
A work order, an inspection or a time entry
An uploaded photo or document
A product, a service or a supplier

Open the item and choose to delete it. If you need help with a broader deletion, write to privacy@mechmate.io describing what you want erased.

What gets deleted

Deleting the account removes all of your operational data.

Your shop profile and settings
The user accounts attached to the shop
Your customers, their contact details and addresses
Equipment, vehicles and custom fields
Work orders, inspections and time entries
Uploaded photos and documents
Your inventory, products, services and suppliers

What is retained, and why

Some data outlives the account, because the law requires us to keep it.

Invoices and accounting records, kept 7 years for tax compliance
Technical logs, kept for at most 2 years
Aggregated, anonymized data, which can no longer identify you

Your payment details are not stored by us. They are handled by Stripe under their own retention policy.

Processing time

Your data is deleted within 90 days of the request.

You can export your data before deletion. Once the period has elapsed, deletion is permanent and we cannot restore the account.
